The history behind the name Our way of commemorating the legendary, iconic and respected Sycamore Gap tree. More than just a tree, this natural symbol of Northumberland stood strong and tall on our favourite stretch of Hadrian's Wall for over 150 years, until it was purposely felled in late summer of 2023. It felt only right that we keep the name alive through our small-batch ethical pieces, each and every one of which are inspired from our deep-rooted love for Northumberland. The history behind the name Northumberland’s iconic landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hadrian’s Wall is entwined across the county’s most rustic lands. History is seeped within every inch, with small castles, ancient templates and crumbling forts. There is no shortage of scenic spots to observe blazing sunsets for added magic from the here and now. My family’s history is intertwined with it, from my Grandad’s small cottage, to the fields my families flock of sheep graze. The infamous tree which inspired the Rigg in our name also lies here.

The history behind the name Declared his favourite place to see nature in the UK by David Attenborough himself, the Farne Islands, are a small cluster of islands off Northumberland’s coast which form a National Nature Reserve. Over 100,000 mated seabird pairs reunite here each year, including iconic puffins and Arctic terns. The second largest colony of grey seals in the UK settle here through the winter months.

The charm of this barren stretch of beach intensifies watching horses galloping through the waves as a fresh wind rolls in. It is the beach I visited most growing up, a car packed with warm layers, wellies, a picnic and dog.
